PokemonGo! Gastly (Pokemon #092 Fantominus) free amigurumi crochet pattern

Since I've tried Eevee pattern created by 53stitches (see this pattern review post -> here ) earlier this week, I became like obsessed with the fur/hair technique used and I made a lot of funny experiments, this new crochet amigurumi pattern is the result of one of them.

I like a lot Fantominus (Pokemon #092 Gastly), though it is a poisonous ghost, I like this little dark bubble with its purple haze and its playful personality. And, it will be a perfect pattern for Halloween don't you think ?

Gastly (Pokemon #092 Fantominus) free amigurumi crochet pattern

*MATERIAL Yarn : Purple, raspberry, white and black

Hook size : 3,5 mm Type of yarn : Charly de Phildar or Barisienne de Bergère de France or Red Heart Super Saver (any yarn that is meant for 4mm /5mm hook

Filling fiber

A needle for sewing

Comb or steel brush

I recommend making the purple haze before sewing eyes and making embroidery of the smile and teeth

For Gastly, I have worked with 2 lengths :

- long length -> yarn over 4 of my fingers

- short length -> yarn over 3 of my fingers

then I made 2 rows of "hair implants" from top (magic circle) to bottom (last 6 st where you FO) of the ball with the shortest length on the front and the longest in the back of this first row. Imagine your ball is a globe and your 1st row is a meridian. Try to keep it aligned following this virtual meridian line.

If you think it's a little tricky, you can sew temporarely a yarn reaching each side -> bottom to top and top to bottom to materialize the meridian to follow.

Then the fun part : GROOMING using a comb or a steel brush

I'm sure that even in your wildest dreams, you have never ever imagined yourself grooming a Gastly.

Well, actually that is just what you'll have to do : groom your purple yarn until you get that smooth and nice texture. It's only a matter of time before you become addicted to this texture technique, believe me, I've been grooming all sort of yarn creatures since 2 days ;)

Then the last part :

- sew the eyes on the black ball (I use pins to help me find the good setting)

use white yarn and sew the back part of half circles to keep the front side of the eye untouched

also, watch your half circles : there's a right and a wrong side -> the front of your last SC is the right side, see pic 5 from the step-by-step tutorial for eyes

with black yarn, embroider the black pupils

- embroider the smile with raspberry yarn, then teeth with white yarn
