Oddish (Pokemon #043 Mystherbe), free crochet amigurumi pattern
When it comes to crocheting Pokemons, Oddish is an obvious choice as the main shape is a ball.
Here is my version of Oddish from the original pattern by Nichole's Nerdy knots, with a technical twist about those leaves that sprout from his head.
I'm not exactly very good at sewing so I searched for an alternative way to crochet them and have the leaves exactly displayed as the character in the anime, 3 main leaves in front and 2 in the back, with everything well centered from any point of view.
Here it goes :
*MATERIAL Yarn : bluen, green, red, white, black Hook size : 3,5 mm Type of yarn : Charly de Phildar or Red Heart Super Saver (any yarn that is meant for 4mm /5mm hook) Filling fiber A needle for sewing

LEAVES
1/ mr 5 sc, sl st, (pic #1)
2/ ch 12 (pic #2), sc in 2nd stitch from hook, 11 sc, sl st in next stitches of the magic ring (pic #3)
repeat 4 times except for the last sl st (pic #4)
3/ sl st in first stitch of ch12 chain, sc, hdc, 6 dc, hdc, sc in last stitch, ch 2, (pic #5) on the other side sc in same st, hdc, 6 dc, hdc, sc, sl st, (pic #6)
repeat 4 times, fo (pic #7)
I don't block the leaves : the chain 12 / sc 11 structure is thick enough with my yarn to keep the leaves standing and even shaped as I wish. Nevertheless, you may need to block, because of your yarn quality.
*BODY
1/ mr, 6 sc (6)
2/ inc x 6 (12)
3/ [inc sc] x 6 (18)
4/ [inc sc sc ]x 6 (24)

8/ sc 24 (24)
9/ [dec sc sc ] x 6 (18)
10/ [dec sc] x 6 (12)
11/ dec x 6 (6), fo (you don't need to close the body because you'll be sewing the leaves on this side) (pic #1)
You want the leaves to be sewed with the right side visible (pic #4)
Sew the crown of leaves on the body row of 12 stitches
FEET make 2
1/ mr, 6 sc
2/ 6 sc (6)
3/ 6 sc (6)
4/ 6 sc (6)
5/ 6 sc (6) (yes my Oddish feet are longer than Nichole's, for me it is more steady this way)
sew feet under the body (pic #1)
EMBROIDER eyes with red yarn going around one stitch vertically many times. There are 3 stitches holes between the eyes (pic #2 and 3). Remember to embroider the eyes centered with one of the leaves. Embroider white sparkle : you have to insert your needle in the middle of the red yarn then through the blue yarn underneath to hold it in place (pic #4)
Here is your Oddish, though I like mine without, you can also embroider a smile/mouth.
Once you'll have mastered the crown of leaves technique, you'll realize that it's a really fast going project, perfect for CrochetGo! purpose, I think one can make it in less than an hour. And the result is so cute, it is really rewarding.
Happy crochet !
